Material Bar is a curated research and exhibition project exploring the role of materials in contemporary design, connecting sustainability, innovation, and hands-on knowledge. Conceived as an open platform, it encourages dialogue, tactile exploration, and direct exchange between designers and visitors.
Presented during Milan Design Week 2025 within the exhibition context of Alcova Milano, Material Bar operated as a Slovenian pavilion, bringing together 11 designers working across different fields of contemporary design and material research.
Within this context, Nika Ravnik presented her project Fragments, showcasing a selection of garments alongside her authorial design approach. In addition to the exhibition, she conducted a series of workshops, introducing her zero-waste methodology through an intuitive, process-based approach. Participants engaged directly with textile materials, exploring form through making and developing wearable pieces within a short time frame.
Material Bar functioned as a participatory exhibition format, extending beyond display into a space of collaboration, experimentation, and shared knowledge.
